Low Oil Levels
It’s important to periodically check your oil in your reservoir to make sure your oil levels are at proper levels. Simply pop the hood after the car cools down and look for the top of the dipstick near the front or center of the engine block.
Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean and reinsert it into the reservoir. Pull out the dipstick again and see where the oil levels are on the indicator on the dipstick. If the level is below the mark, it is okay to temporarily top off the oil but you’re probably due for an oil change.
It’s important to service your car if the oil levels are low because there may be a leak or you may be seriously overdue for an oil change. Low oil levels can cause permanent engine damage and can put you at risk for breaking down .
