Pack A Winter Emergency Kit:
You should always be prepared for any situation. Your emergency kit should be packed with tire chains, snow boots, a shovel, flares, an extra coat, hat, gloves, non-parishable foods and snacks, a blanket, cat litter or sand and a phone charger.
Maintain Proper Antifreeze Levels:
Without antifreeze, the water in your radiator will freeze when the engine is cold. Water expands when it freezes, leading to potentially expensive damage. Take good care of your radiator!
Keep Wiper Fluid Tank Full:
When ever you think about it, check your wiper fluid resevoir levels. Make sure you have fluid that works well in the low temperatures and perhaps even one that has De-Icer mixed in to keep your windows clear.
Make Sure You Have Four Good Winter Tires:
Make sure your tires have enough traction to maintain control on icy and snowy road conditions. Winter tires are best for this, making sure you have thick enough tire treads.
Fuel Up! Don’t Get Yourself Stranded Somewhere:
Don’t let yourself get stranded in a bad situation. Prevention is better than cure — keep it above a quarter tank. More fuel means more idling & heating available if you get stuck.
