Air conditioning is a blessing to car owners, especially during summer. It can be the difference between a comfortable ride or a hellish experience, especially if you are stuck in traffic on a hot summer day. Worse, your car and windows can act as a greenhouse if left in direct sunlight. When the sun rays enter through your window, they are absorbed by the metal roof and have nowhere to escape.
Most modern vehicles come with air conditioning ; therefore, most car owners are ready to get comfortable when they get into their car. But what happens when you turn on your air conditioner and hot air blows through the vents. Hot air blowing on your face from your A/C is a sign of a problem.

Why is my A.C Blowing Hot Air?
Your car A/C system comes with certain intricacies in their build that make it difficult to repair, especially if you don’t have the proper equipment or the right knowledge. Also, there are specific environmental concerns that you need to be aware of that are involved with the refrigerant that require special attention. The following are a few issues that could make your car A/C blow hot air:

The Air Condenser is blocked
Your car condenser works by re-cooling the hot refrigerant once it is compressed. This is usually done using the airflow that comes through the front of your car when you are driving. In case your air conditioning condenser is blocked by some kind of debris driving on the road, it won’t be able to cool the refrigerant properly, and your car will continue to work with overheated coolant. It will lead to the A/C unit blowing hot air.
Refrigerant Leak
It is also possible that the problem could be with your refrigerant or lack of it. In case your system leaks, then it could cause your A/C unit to blow warm air since there’s little or no coolant to cool things down. It’s essential to consult an expert mechanic such as one from AAMCO Utah since these leaks can be hard to detect and the refrigerant evaporates the moment it leaves the A/C system.

Electrical Issues
Your A/C blowing hot air could also be as a result of a problem with the electrical system. The A/C unit gets power through the electrical system. The car electrical system consists of switches, relays, and fuses and is designed to shut down in the event of even one component malfunctioning. While electrical issues are potentially dangerous and could lead to fires, it could also mean that a single blown fuse could cause the entire system to stop working. Electrical problems are also the most common causes of A/C unit failures.
Replace cabin air filter
Depending on your vehicle’s make and model, it may come with a cabin air filter. In case your car has a cabin air filter, it needs to be clean and unobstructed to allow air to get in freely. Cabin air filters usually collect leaves, bugs, and dust, among other debris. A dirty air filter will affect your A/C unit’s ability to cool your cabin, causing your entire system to stop working.
Broken cooling fans
Your A/C unit condenser comes with a pair of cooling fans that help in dissipating heat from the refrigerant. Therefore, if your cooling fans are broken, they will not be able to remove heat effectively from the refrigerant. While the air you get from a broken fan will not be as hot as a faulty condenser, it is enough to make you sweat. Also, your cooling fan blades are not designed to be sturdy, and they can crack if hit with debris driving down the road. The only remedy to broken cooling fans is a replacement.
